Like representational painting, abstract painting can conjure up the illusion of space on the flat, two-dimensional surface of a canvas. And while it does not conform to a recognizable scene, there is the suggestion of a foreground, a middle ground and a background in this painting. The title might refer to a journey from one depth to another, or to the wall that has been partially drawn across the field of view, blocking our ability to see into the deeper layers of the painting.
