Anthony II

Marita Dingus uses discarded materials, recycling them into works of art.  Her subjects are also recycled in that they are updated versions of histories. . .both cultural and personal.  This is a portrait of a particular person expressed in the form of a ceremonial figure.  Accomplishing what many artists try to do, she confronts and overthrows traditional forms while at the same time respecting and honoring those forms.
