James M. Sahlstrand (1936 - 2009), was a photographer and Emeritus Professor of Art at Central Washington University. Sahlstrand was nationally recognized as a photographer, publisher, teacher, gallery director and originator of the pioneering national photography exhibition "New Photographics". He received BA and MFA degrees from the University of Minnesota where he worked with Jerry Liebling.
