Red From the Colored Series

Terry Johnson is a skilled draftsman with both paint and graphite.  Often, he works with the human anatomy, altering and manipulating the subject matter, attempting to accentuate the dramatic, multiple light sources that fall upon the surfaces.  Here, the pillow form assumes a life of its own, through the artist's facility with materials.  Johnson taught drawing and painting for many years at Cornish College of Art in Seattle.
