This is drawn from my life studies.  Though print, especially etching, can be an oblique process, I hope directness is present in my work.  I would like this heavy, sculptural medium to yield gestural, mercurial results. I appreciate the qualities etching shares with sculpture: it's gravitas, its permanence, and the possibility of multiples.  I admire the deep, unequivocal black of etching inks.  I enjoy creating works on paper, that tactile, sincere, and unforgiving surface.  For me, paper seems the most transparent of supports. –Artist statement
