Drip Grid (Pink)

Julie Alpert is interested in capturing the effects of gravity in a moment frozen in time. A common theme in her work is the inevitable decay and dissolution of the body and the physical world. She embeds this difficult subject matter inside joyful pattern, recognizable everyday materials, and a colorful palette. Alpert regularly uses the drip motif in her work because it can be portrayed as both a representation of a drip and the actual physical dripping of paint. —Artist statement
