Blended Blossom - Large

Jessica’s work is deeply informed by her Korean American background and father’s military assignments. The cultural motifs, symbols, and icons greatly inform her work as she tests the literal and metaphorical boundaries that separate countries, cultures, and people. Using the materials that touch people, from everyday traditional dress to military-grade uniforms, she fuses foreign materials to create mixed media sculptural forms and installations. As she embarks on her own journey, intentionally blurring lines, she hopes to nurture a sense of appreciation and understanding of what interconnectedness means for the viewers that engage with her work. –Artist statement
