Salmon Bake Princess

While researching the NE Tacoma area, I learned of the long history of Salmon Bakes and the short lived ‘Salmon bake Princess’ contests in the 40’s/50’s. I loved this contrast between princesses, delicately adorned, and the giant fish that travel thousands of miles to die. And there is such beauty in each. This piece was printed by steamroller at the annual Wayzgoose event in Tacoma. –Artist statement
