Cosmic Dance

As an Alaskan, Rachel’s experience with light and its absence informed her perspective on the impact of light and shadow. An unexpected light show by the aurora borealis became a captivating moment of pause and presence as the light shot directly down from the sky, transcendent and visceral. This actualized light as Rachel’s muse and from that point forward, the language of light, expressed through pushing the boundaries of photography, was her way to communicate with the world. Inspired by the unlimited rainbow of color within white light, this piece is a tribute to the sublime power of light. –Artist statement
