Universal Spell is a piece from Reader’s Tomb, an on-going body of work depicting spell placards, funerary texts and artifacts from an imaginary bibliophile’s tomb. The source text for this work is The Egyptian Book of the Dead. Utilizing a limited set of streamlined materials and a reduced pallet of red, white and silver,  this series deals with superstition and functionality, occupying perverse ground between belief and skepticism, seriousness and humor. –Artist statement
