Osculation (Kiss) is a wall relief and refinement of a previous series of "ball drop" sculptures which focused on the depiction of a dynamic system in a static display. Expanding the field upon which the balls seem to drop, a new network of information can be observed. The typically static system of a grid is disrupted and now seems to exist in chaos, disturbed by an unobservable gravity. The ordering systems still exist, but are defied by new entities (spheres) within close proximity. This relationship is a play on a painting called "Kiss" by Bridget Riley where a latent tension is created by two forms interacting, and expanded upon into a larger field. The final result is a visual metaphor, and holds the tension and excitement one feels at the moment before engaging in a kiss.–Artist statement
