Blankets

My practice hybridizes physical and digital drawing and painting. I make eclectic, experimental work that explores being “neither here nor there:” themes of otherness, ambiguity, transformation, and fluidity. The work is informed by my own and other’s multiracial, neurodiverse, and queer perspectives and histories intersecting in a digital world. I celebrate the joys of mixture, mess, the unknown, and possibility. 

My visual technique is influenced by architectural drawing conventions and early drawing software. These structured, precise, and hierarchical drawing modes are broken, reappropriated, and queered in my work through experimentation, failure, and playful surrealism. The tension between loose improvised elements and precise organization is expressed, emphasized, and challenged in my work as an analogue to ADHD. –Artist statement
