I celebrate the ancient stories of my Warm Springs, Wasco, and Wishxam ancestors in the imagery I create. By doing this I maintain the memory of an ancient culture and keep the beliefs of my people alive…My ancestors have a 10,000 year history in the Columbia River Gorge. The Stick Indian …lives in the mountains and whistles like birds. If a good person is lost in the woods, the Stick Indian will guide him to safety whereas a bad person will be led deeper into the forest. The Stick Indian also steals badly behaved children. –Artist statement
