Twlight Place at the Water's Edge

Born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1938, Michael Dailey received his BA and MFA from the University of Iowa, and came to Seattle to teach at the University of Washington in 1964. This painting is an early one showing his initial interest in the landscape, while remaining very abstract.  In his later work he layers color over color, creating a luminous atmospheric effect with a sense of color field painting.
