Twlight Place at the Water's Edge

Michael Dailey is one of the better known painters of the region.  Born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1938, he received his BA and MFA from the University of Iowa, and came to Seattle to teach at the University of Washington in 1964. He exhibits regularly in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco in solo and group exhibitions. This painting is an early one showing his initial interest in the landscape, while remaining very abstract.  In his later work he layers color over color, creating a luminous atmospheric effect with a sense of color field painting.
