This sculptural portrait is from a period near the end of Marilyn's career, during the filming of the movie 'The Misfits.' In this film, Marilyn's character encounters and engages some of Nevada's last real cowboys during a tragic hunt for wild mustangs. The movie views the end of the old West as a mythic place, psychologically and emotionally. This cardboard construction expresses fragility and ethereal quality. The figure is shown blowing in the wind. –Artist statement
