While his drawings sometimes suggest structures or architecture, the artist has always made drawings that remain open in the sense that they cannot be nailed down to a specific place or thing. Instead of drawing as a way of building a likeness, they are, in the end, drawings about the act of drawing.  Jones resorts to a few gestures to render an impression of place. The viewer not only sees the finished drawing, but simultaneously witnesses the actions that led to the final work.
