Everett Dupen was Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington where he was chair of the Sculpture Department for many years. Born in San Francisco, DuPen studied art at the University of Southern California and graduated from Yale University. Most of my sculpture is based upon expressions celebrating life and nature. All of my figurative sculpture is strongly grounded in the search for design, third-dimensional form and presence; presence being the expression of vitality in a sculpture irrespective of its subject. I have a particular love and inclination for using the human form in my art and consider it to be of prime importance in creating sculpture. –Artist statement
