The images in my paintings emerge from a process that begins with small-scale artist's books in which I combine painted, invented images with ones that I lift through various Xerox processes.  Some of the paintings are put together in parts, in which a main image is associated with a secondary image.  This kind of foot-noting began in my artist books several years ago and has been slowly working its way into the poetics of my larger pieces.
