My images are lifted from old 1920s cartoons and are of a very universal character, the 'Company Man.'  I use the images and very gestural, physical painting as metaphors for psychological states of mind.  I've been thinking about what it is to assimilate.  Questions of being an 'individual' within 'the group,' and role-playing interest me.  These are universal themes and are presented in a very direct way.  The gap between my images seems to allow the viewer a greater role in piecing together a reading of the work.
