Re-presenting cloth in cloth involves a meta level of cognition that satisfies both my hands' needs as an artist and my mind's needs as an art historian.  I have used my own drawings of both historical garments and cloth in my own home as models.  In both cases the cloth has the ability to suggest, or embody its former owner and its uses. –Artist statement
