Paul Horiuchi was a master of abstracted collage painting.  With his beautiful sense of color and texture, he so well represented the fusion of Asian and Northwest sensibilities. Through his skillful use of paint and Japanese rice paper, Horiuchi became a master at communicating his wish to balance peace and serenity with the fast pace of modern society. I believe that the art of painting, and the painting itself, should convey a feeling of serene satisfaction and inner harmony. –Artist statement
