A lot of my work takes place outside of the studio. I make drawings, videos and animations of my looking, thinking and doing. I am concerned with showing the viewer the subtle daily and seasonal changes to the landscape and the patterns, thoughts and actions of the broad cast of characters (i.e. people, birds, buildings, etc.) that inhabit this place. We move too fast through these landscapes and don’t notice enough. I try to slow down to show the viewer what we neglect to take time to see. These documentations/performances normally find their way into a diaristic narrative. Back in my studio I make drawings of shelters that I or my characters have inhabited and structures that could or could not facilitate my staying outdoors for an extended period. –Artist statement
