This is an early acrylic piece that is both narrative and romantic in concept, reinforced by the use of dramatic back lighting and a limited palette of strong contrasts. The painting shows a teenage couple holding hands and deep in conversation, strolling down a street in Seattle's Central area. This was conceived as part of a series of paintings exploring ethnic diversity, romantic love, and the archetypal similarities found in all human relationships. –Artist statement
