Description: Halvorsen's artwork is integrated into the stairs, lobby, and restrooms of the South Seattle Precinct Station. The most prominent element is a 225 square foot mural, made up of approximately 350 ceramic tiles, which spans the entire length of a lobby wall at the entrance. The mural depicts salmon swimming and jumping; soft shades of pink, green, and brown are emphasized, with brighter colors for highlighting. Fish also appear jumping over a water fountain in the lobby and "swimming" over the exterior steps and walls of the building. The interior tiles are raku fired, and the exterior artwork along the steps and walls is of the same type of structural brick as that used to face the building.
