Hand From the Stigmitization

I have always been fascinated by what gets preserved and rejected as societies create histories.  Instead of borrowing material from other cultures, I have been sorting through the peculiarities and sentimentalities of the Judeo-Christian imagery that dominates my art legacy.  In these visual narratives, the variation in depiction and editing of the human body seems especially ripe for scrutiny.  The figure's long and somewhat seedy history in art makes it a perfect tool for reworking the moribund staples of western culture. –Artist statement
