This internationally known artist is best known for his large sculptural woodcarvings, which relates directly to his printmaking technique of woodblock prints. This piece, completed during a recent residency at Pilchuck Glass School, was inspired by elemental science experiments where root systems are grown from seeds suspended by toothpicks in a jar of water. The image is consistent with Buck's narrative work that employees disparate objects and figures precariously in balance with each other.
