Backbend

The focus of Mackin's art is loosely figurative.  It is a juxtaposition of varying glimpses of cultural images: people, the archetypes we may identify with, symbols and objects we may interact with daily.  These images may appear as interrupted narratives.  She attempts to acknowledge a particular mood through use of color, line and gesture.  The mood is sometimes ironic or challenging, meditative or whimsical, and she hopes it is always provocative and alive.
