Ade'

This screen print is one of a series of nine performers I selected to celebrate from Seattle’s Re-bar theater and nightclub. I worked at there for many years and I got to know and love the many different performers. In 2008 I worried Re-bar would close and decided to make a series of images of my favorite performers called “Special Ladies of Re-bar”. This image is of Ade’ Connere, a musician, actor and drag performer who was a regular star at Re-bar. Debora Spencer shot the photo my image is based on. When the bar did not close the owners decided to display this series above the bar. –Artist statement
