Sleeping Angel

Sleeping Angel is a portrait of my wife Catherine.  Her face was drawn on a small lithographic stone and a hand drawn on another.  These were both printed in black.  I tried various arrangements and liked the hand above the head – it felt like a blessing upon the sleeping face.  Human beings fascinate me…for years I wanted figures to be more androgynous, the body a shell for the soul.  Then a period of the sensual nature of the female form.  Now I want to examine what it means to be human. –Artist statement
