This is not an actual finished artwork in the usual sense of fine art. The work was submitted as a proposal for a commissioned artwork that was subsequently never actually realized.  While these proposals tend not to be polished, they have the immediacy of a sketch and the freshness of an undiluted concept. Although the commission was not realized, the proposal has become part of the Portable Collection.

This drawing was originally created as a proposal for a sculpture to be sited at one of the Light Rail stations.  The artist was proposing the incorporation into her sculpture of the old “SO-DO” sign that had originally been sited atop the old JC Penny Building on First Avenue South.  When Starbucks bought the JC Penny Building for their headquarters, the SO-DO had been removed.
