This print is part of a theme entitled 'The Construction of Modern Girlhood.' This allegorical series addresses the salable 'girl power' myth and the media's pressure on girls. Ms. Aoki received her M.F.A. degree in printmaking at Washington University in St. Louis in 1994. She is an assistant professor of art at Santa Clara University in California.
