I left Cuba in a hurry when I was 9 years old – fleeing the revolution.  Even in Miami though, I continued my growing-up years in a predominantly Cuban culture.  Over the years I have developed an increasing curiosity about certain religious cults and rituals that are common to my native culture.  Common, but also mysterious, because it has always been apparent that most Cubans find these things embarrassing to talk about or to admit any degree of belief. –Artist statement
