When the artist grew up near Washington, D.C. he became fascinated with power, and the paradox of humanity's creativity and cruelty. This painting meditates on the Northwest, the aerospace industry, and ties to the Pacific Rim. It includes elements from Chinese fireworks, a jet engine photo, and a jasmine air freshener. I like to simplify my images, mimicking graphic design. I appreciate the power of symbols, humor, and the absurd. –Artist statement
