These drawings were made soon after I arrived at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts for my residency program. The drawings juxtapose McMansion banality with unpredictable sky, ruled order/unruly nature. Each is vulnerable and potentially destructive to the other. I was not anticipating Hurricane Irene’s fiercely torrential rains three weeks later. –Artist statement
