In reference to a new architectural style featuring protruding and recessed blocks of space taking hold in Seattle circa 2016, Jenga (South Lake Union) critiques the rapid pace of construction and precarious nature of the city's economic boom at the time. The piece was cut from architectural glass into 54 identical playable blocks. Julia Chamberlain is a Seattle-based artist who explores illumination, technology, and cities in her mixed media and glass work. She received her BFA from the University of Washington in 2015. This piece was created at a residency at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. –Artist statement
