Rear View Mirror

As a painter and printmaker, I am interested in a broader definition of landscape which encompasses not only the picturesque scene, but the process of seeing as well.  Rear view mirrors, peripheral vision, and a cinematic notion of time provide strategies for looking at the contemporary urban landscape in a way that feels closer to the truth of my experience.  I am searching for images that are visually whole, yet paradoxically retain some of the fragmentary character of that experience. –Artist statement
