I think of art as a kind of conversation rather than a matter of personal expression. When I work on a piece, I find there is a dialogue between my hand and my eye, between the ink and the paper, between dots and line, and between different aspects of myself within my mind. My work is process based so I don’t work toward a preset goal. I allow for possibilities I may not have thought of and mistakes in one piece often become an intentional stylistic choice in a later work. I believe an artwork isn’t complete until it is viewed, and the conversation continues on between it and the viewer. –Artist statement
