Coffee on my Mind

I use recycled material to create vibrant mosaics which engage the viewer on multiple levels. I delight in re-purposing a pile of discarded plastic cards into images that draw the viewer in to discover details then realize in surprise the materials used. This mosaic is made entirely from Starbucks gift cards. The image of a young woman harvesting coffee cherries is beautiful, yet we recognize that the romantic image of a pleasant day hides a lifetime of endless toil. Similarly, plastics like those used here create endless pain for the environment. –Artist statement
