The inspiration came from the yəhaw̓ exhibition, they had borrowed a Coast Salish Story called "Lifting the Sky". In the story the creator has left the sky too low and the chiefs of different nations came together to figure out how to lift the sky. The drum design is of two humanistic figures lifting the moon with their chief staffs. The face in the moon is the spirit in the moon and two stars on either side to help represent the sky. –Artist statement
