Chris Paul is a Coast Salish artist who mixes traditional style with his own contemporary interpretations of Coast Salish Indigenous design. Chris produces sculptures, carvings, jewelry, paintings and serigraphs. His sculptures are usually multifaceted in that he combines different processes and materials into one work of art. He has, for example, combined carving and sandblasting while using wood, metal, and glass. Chris' work tends to take the Coast Salish design elements of circle, oval, crescent and trigon and use them in minimalist and contemporary means, especially the use of negative space. –Artist statement
