Lounging Swimmers

Lounging Swimmers was inspired by spending time with other artists at the Rauschenberg Residency. Much of our down time was spent swimming at the pool in front of the main studio. Having spent a lot of time in the water led me to creating works that embodied a fluid quality. This piece started out with an ink sketch before paint was applied. I wanted the fluid process of the sketch to be complimented by the subject matter. I wanted the ease of the process to convey the ease that can be experienced when surrounded by people you love and adore. –Artist statement
