Whirlpool

..each work is a journey. I usually begin with a vague notion of the direction of the work, and the process is initiated keeping this in mind. But like many journeys the work takes unexpected turns and I try to let the sculpture dictate the course I take. In many cases the end result is far removed from the first flash of inspiration. Much of the construction process is repetitive, but very meditative. In this way I feel that there is some spiritual benefit to the work. –Artist statement
