I have been working with the idea of a meniscus – the curved surface of a column of water – as metaphor for horizon.  A distant horizon, as with the open ocean, or the open prairie.  A horizon with no restriction.  And, ultimately, it is not even the horizon for which these paintings are made; it is the feel of the distant horizon that I want to capture, the feel of the boundless.  Born and raised in the Great Plains, I have a deep love for the sweeping vistas that can be found throughout the American West. –Artist statement
