Phillip McCracken is one of the Northwest's most revered sculptors.  His work, typically concentrating on gentle animals, is sited throughout the region in important public buildings and private homes.  Born in Bellingham, Washington in 1929 and living on Guemes Island since 1955, he has been at the forefront of the Northwest School along with Mark Tobey, Kenneth Callahan, Morris Graves and Guy Anderson.  In 1955, McCracken worked as an assistant to sculptor Henry Moore in England, where he also married his wife Anne McFetridge.
