Packing Fruits and Vegetables

Born and educated in St. Petersburg, Russia, Elshin settled in Seattle in 1923 after a three year stint as a newspaper cartoonist in Shanghai.  Elshin maintained an active painting and teaching career in the Northwest, as well as exhibiting in New York, Sao Paulo, San Francisco, Kobe, Japan, Paris, and Washington, D.C.  Elshin won numerous awards including two U.S. Post Office Mural Competitions. This painting was done for the Eugene, Oregon post office.
