Maria

I was born and raised in Southern Africa (Malawi & Namibia) and my work is vey much influenced by my African culture. The outcome of the image Maria was very interesting as I used acrylic paint on my face because I had run out of my regular face paint. The acrylic paint dried up my face and created such amazing texture and style. Even though the image doesn't really resemble anything African, I still feel like it has depth and history behind it and is one of my favorite faces that I have created. –Artist statement
