I was born and raised in Southern Africa (Malawi & Namibia) and my work is vey much influenced by my African culture. I am inspired and intrigued by different tribes all over Africa and some other parts of the world. My artwork has become a source of empowerment for me as a young black woman living in the western world. Yami was an experiment using vegetables and fruits.  –Artist statement
