I was born and raised in Southern Africa (Malawi & Namibia) and my work is very much influenced by my African culture. Queen Ade is basically my inner-self. I wanted to see how I could portray myself as a powerful strong African Queen. I made the entire costume, the head piece using paper mache and attaching fake hair and sticks and different fabrics. –Artist statement
