This piece combines a family snapshot of the Pacific Northwest Coast with an image of a native man hovering in the clouds. I am referencing the very real sadness surrounding today’s immigration policies. My subject matter spans a range of ideas, but always engages memory, both personal and collective. I fuse traditional camerawork and digital technologies. Meaning for me is organic. I want to see behind what I see. I want to see the unconscious and its influence on the conscious. Like prayers woven into a carpet’s warp and weft, my work is a kind of continuous meditation. –Artist statement
